Mike Clevinger, SP (2,000,000 in 21, 8,000,000 in 22)
Emilio Pagan, RP (1,500,000 ARB)

We make this deal because I plan on contending in 2022, not 2021. An ace at only 8 mil a year? Couldn’t pass this up. Have plenty of pitching prospects so Kirby isn’t that hard to lose.

Padres confirm.

Tough break on Clevinger, but his injury and, thus, this trade bring some clarity to our path forward. I feel George Kirby is a high-probability MLB contributor and his stuff might still be improving while France could add solid depth to our lineup given a chance to hit his way into everyday ABs in Seattle. There's a little more give-and-take on the backend of this deal to smooth things out -- it'll work for me.
