High risk, high reward trade here. I am sending away Alvarado, who is on a cheap contract and can be one of the top relievers in baseball when he is healthy. The reward will hopefully be Casey Martin a few years from now. He is a volatile prospect, but I was looking to add another corner infielder to the mix. If his hit tool and plate discipline improve and translate to a higher level of baseball, then he should be a legit power/speed threat. Unfortunately, I am not convinced that is the most likely outcome. However, when given the upside of his profile, I felt like it was worth a risk to gamble away Alvarado.
