Tampa Bay sends: Niko Hulsizer, OF (TB) - 21: $0.5M (MiLB) Seth Johnson, P (TB) - Prospect
Cincinnati sends: Tyler Mahle, P (CIN) - 21: $2M, 22-23: Arb Jonathan India, CI (CIN) - 21: $0.5M (MiLB)
Tampa Bay Logic: I was looking to bolster my starting pitching core. Mahle is a guy who I have acquired recently in my other 3 dynasty leagues, so I figured I might as well get him here too. He is not a lock for the Reds’ rotation and he needs to lower his walk rate, but I like his outlook if he earns a starting job. Hopefully he does not end up decimating all four of my dynasty teams lol. India coincidentally is another player I have in all of my leagues. My reasons for liking him are a little biased, as he is a hometown kid and someone who I have seen play a bunch in the Minors, but he is actually a great fit for my squad since I am kind of lacking at the hot corner. I hope his high floor translates to the Majors. Had to give to get though, because I am high on the two prospects that I am sending to Cincy. Johnson has some of the highest upside of any arm in the Rays’ system, and Hulsizer’s power potential is enticing. Overall, the deal made sense and is mutually beneficial. Nice working with Adam on this one!

The Reds accept the trade due to a lack of high potential arms in the system. It’s what this organization has desperately needed in the past few years so grabbing Seth Johnson was very important to my strategy. Mahle leaves me a little short handed right now but I’m top heavy anyways.
Hated the India pick when we drafted him despite being locked down at the corner infield spots and drafting Senzel the year prior...could understand if he was a high school guy but not an upperclassman in college. Glad to move him for Niko Hulksizer!!! Let’s drop some bombs baby!
