Reds Trade:
Rece Hinds, CI -MiLB Contract
Yankees Trade:
Canaan Smith-Njigba, OF - MiLB Contract
For the Reds were are going to try and win the division over the next couple of seasons. So logically collecting MLB talent or close to MLB ready talent is the best option we have. Hinds has something like 8-10 AB’s as a minor leaguer and is probably 3-4 years away from playing in the majors. Not to mention that he probably moves to the corner OF spot given his ineptitude at catching ground balls and his solid arm strength. He’s going to hit absolute bombs in GABP but, Smith will do the exact same thing in half the time (if he doesn’t get a call up this season). OF is our weakest position unless things change drastically so grabbing insurance for when Avisial Garcia is gone is a must and helps us have more flexibility headed into FA next year.
