The Chicago White Sox send:

• MI/OF Leury Garcia (CWS) — $3,500,000 UFA
• RHP Matthew Thompson (CWS) — MiLB

to the Washington Nationals for:

• MI Starlin Castro (WSH) — $6,000,000 UFA
• RHP Joan Adon (WSH) — MilB

Think this deal should work out both ways. Lee gets a depth piece with multi-positional eligibility and a projectable right-hander out of the talented Sox system. I get some reliable, relatively inexpensive insurance at MI to backup Tim Anderson / Adalberto Mondesi.

Confirmed. I needed OF depth, and with Didi, Turner and Eduardo in the fold, I'm confident I have the MI pieces to wait until Garcia gets more seasoning, making Castro the obvious man out. Particularly excited about getting Thompson. While the White Sox don't have the best reputation for developing high school players, I was happy to move Adon for a pitcher with such an incredibly high ceiling if he puts it all together. Great dealing with Jason.
