- Contract bought down $8.5M in 2024

*original contract was $33M AAS

Doing some more pre-draft/FA shopping and couldn't imagine landing a friendlier contract for a bat of this caliber. Obviously had to give up some young talent to get it done, but I'm hoping to restock a bit come draft day and adding Ozuna from the Braves effectively cements my Opening Day lineup so I can focus on adding some pitching the rest of the offseason.

As you've seen, I'm working to add youth to my roster after inheriting this team. Ozuna is a good power source, but he didn't make much sense for me to keep a hold of. Wanted to move him for some more intriguing prospects. I like Ortiz & McGeary's upside enough to pull the trigger here. Hoping both are up & active soon.
