We went back and forth on this and settled on a one-for-one. Moniak has been found money for me, but I'd rather move him for a long-term piece that could hopefully start for years to come. It's a calculated gamble.

Moniak has gone from “colossal bust” to “breakout stud” in the matter of a month, which is fun. This trade is a bit risky on my part; Miranda has 3 extra years of control, and Moniak is posting a 32% strikeout rate. But Moniak is also *mashing*, so that’s something. Doesn’t seem like Miranda will be a contributor to my playoff run this year, so the hope is that Moniak’s current success is sustainable enough to help me out these next 2 months. He hit one of the longest home runs I’ve ever seen in person back in Kissimmee in 2018, so let’s hope that’s the version of Moniak I’m getting.
