This offseason we allowed teams to place players on the IL during the offseason if they were on the IL in real life. This turned out to be an unfair practice because some real life teams would make moves as they happened and others waited until opening day. I had some teams complaining about not being able to IL a player with an obvious IL issue while others were able to IL their guys with the same issue. Still others made transactions anyway since I don't have time to check every IL transaction and rely on you guys to follow that rule.
So...we're going to keep it real simple next offseason: The IL opens at 12:01am on Opening Day.
Constitution Revision:
"d. At the end of the season all IL players will be returned to the 40 man roster during spreadsheet roll over. The IL is closed during the offseason while it is closed in real life MLB and reopens at 12:01am on Opening Day."
I get that it sucks to have an IL player taking up a roster spot that you could be filling with a depth piece, but at least this way it's the same for everyone.
