I never thought I'd be trading away pick 1.03 when I got it, since I think a top-4 pick in this draft is a really valuable thing. However, two of my biggest current needs are CI and roster depth. This trade helps me in both of those areas and also helps speed up my timeline. Westburg and Malloy offer me potential long-term pieces at both my CI spots, and I expect both of them to make an impact in the next year or so. As much as I valued the 3rd pick this year, there should still be some players around pick 9 that I'm excited about.

I love Westburgs bat and JH Malloy was a fun find last year, but 1.03 gives me a chance at a future number 1 prospect. Confirmed.
