Cubs trade:
William Contreras, C (MIL) MiLB2 Nick Bitsko, P (TBR) MiLB Chase Strumpf, MI (CHC) MiLB 2024 3rd Rd draft pick
Brewers trade:
Brice Turang, MI (MIL) MiLB Freddy Peralta, P (MIL) 2023: $3.500M 2024: $5.50M, 2025 option $8.00M, 2026 option $8.00M Josh Donaldson, CI (NYY) 2023: $21.00M 2024 option: $16.00M 2024 1st Rd draft pick
Cubs rationale:
I'm brand new to this league and wanted to immediately piss off the 9/10 people who made very strong offers for Contreras and didn't land him. I'm renowned for my first impressions.
Secondly, although I don't like trading within the division Vince put together an offer that I couldn't refuse. With ample cap space, I can eat the Donaldson contract while gaining current and future assets in Peralta and Turang respectively. The 2024 draft pick swap for next year goes along with that. For a period of time today I considered pulling Contreras and keeping him, given general hitting incompetence at catcher, but I'm reasonably confident in my minors assets at the position. Moving Bitsko is a loss of an asset on my end, but worth it to receive this return. Chase Strumpf I didn't know existed before today, but I'm sure he's a very nice guy who cleans his room, minds his manners, and will play a perfectly cromulent middle infielder.
I'm not normally so long-winded with trade reasonings, but given the (much appreciated) effort many of you put in, you get my stream of consciousness as a consolation prize.
Nice to work with Vince, and I'm glad we could work this out.
Over to Brewers to confirm.

Confirmed. Felt like I needed to spend to get a set-and-forget player at a premium position. With this roster, I feel I have a win-now window that trades like this will allow me to capitalize on. Time will tell.
Thanks for a good deal, Colin.
