I've had a couple of people who are new to this format ask me about this, so I'll post it here for reference:
- Whether a player is on your 40 man roster or you 20 man minor league roster is determined entirely by the spreadsheet. You are required to keep your fantrax matching in the sense that they guys in your 20 man roster of the spreadsheet should occupy the 20 minor league slots on your fantrax roster. Keeping that up to date is up to you.
- Simply moving a player on fantrax does not change their official status. You must call them up or send them down by replying to your thread in the MiLB section of the proboards site.
- When I process a trade, I put minor league eligible players on the 20 man roster if there is an open spot. If there is not, I put them on the 40 man roster with their associated salary. If you want to move them you have to post a call up or send down. Fantrax doesn't necessarily put them where I put them on the spreadsheet and I don't go and move them on your roster. If you trade a minor league player, it's a good habit to check where I slotted him on the spreadsheet and adjust your roster to match.
- You can specify where you want a player slotted on your roster in the trade itself and you've got about a 50/50 chance that I'll catch it and make the move you posted. That chance will increase if you bold it or something like that. If I miss it, just let me know.
- There are unlimited milb moves during the offseason, but each one takes a few minutes of my time. I appreciate you limiting your moves to ones that either free up cap space or roster space during the offseason. There will be a reminder right before the season to adjust your minor league roster before call ups begin to count against your in-season limit. You can always make a bulk transaction at that time.
Thanks. Hit me up with questions if you have them.
