Twins Trade:
- Owen Caissie, OF (CHC): MiLB
- Mason Montgomery, SP (TB): MiLB
Cardinals Trade:
- Miles Mikolas, SP (STL): $15,750,000 (~36.5% Buydown - $10M salary traded to Twins | $5.75M Buydown Cap Hit)
Rational: Zack and I danced around a number of different options over the last few weeks, but were finally able to land on this. Mikolas gives me a 3rd solid option on the rotation this year with a more than reasonable salary after the buydown. It's one less hole I need to fill via free agency where there's a lot of cash waiting to be spent. If I'm not as competitive as I think I'll be this season, I should be able to flip him closer to the deadline, and if everything comes together, then Mikolas should be one of the front runners for our restricted tag next offseason. Caissie and Montgomey are both prospects I like quite a bit, but are probably farther off from contributing than what fits my timeline.
