Tampa Bay Rays Trade:
2024 1st Round Pick (via COL)
This was a tough decision to make as a competitive club, but sometimes you gotta plan for the future at the cost of now. Ward was a revelation for me last year and one of my best FA dart throws to date, yet I just don't have a reasonable way to keep him beyond this year with my franchise tag already locked down. A restricted tag might cost a ton if Ward is as good as I think he can be and declining to match wouldn't pull in a true 1st rounder, so I decided to take a step back for now knowing there's a long offseason ahead to make up some ground.
