Texas sends:

Bubba Thompson (OF, TEX) - $850,000 in 2023 & 2024 (pre-arb.)
Chris Martin (RP, BOS) - $6,000,000 in 2023 and $7,500,000 in 2024. Texas to retain 50% of Martin’s salary.

I desperately needed to shed DJ’s salary, and didn’t have any need for Ortega or Stephenson either, so was willing to part with a couple prospects I really like to get those 3 guys off my hands. I like the potential with getting Thompson back in return at a minimal price, and can use him and Martin as active members of my roster for the upcoming year. Confirmed. This was mostly just about using my cap space to buy a couple prospects I like. Sad to say goodbye to Thompson and Martin but, given where I'm at in my rebuild, I don't have a need for them on my roster, so I was okay including them to make this work. Thanks to Sam for the smooth negotiations and best of luck this year!
