Thank you to all of the great managers that make this league a success for another awesome season. As we enter the final week of regular season play, here's the playoff picture and some important reminders:
American League:
2022 Division Champions:
Tampa Bay Rays (East)
Cleveland Guardians (Central)
Seattle Mariners (West)
Houston is only one game back in the West one game to play, but would lose on 3rd tie breaker so Seattle has clinched.
2022 Wild Card:
With 1 game to play the Yankees, Astros, White Sox, Angels and Twins are all within 1 game of each other. 5 teams for 3 spots. I don't have time to do the math to see if one or more of these have clinched, but by all means reply below if you have it.
First Round Byes:
Rays and Guardians have clinched the available first round byes. Rays leads by one game in the race for the top seed in the AL, but Guardians have the advantage in the tie-breaker (via 3rd tie-breaker) if it were to end in a tie after this week.
National League:
2022 Division Champions:
New York Mets (East)
Cincinnati Reds (Central)
The Dodgers and Padres are tied for 1st in the West with 1 game to play. In the event of a tie the Padres would have the advantage in the tie-breaker (via 3rd tie-breaker) The Dodgers need a win and a Padres loss to capture the title.
2022 Wild Card:
Padres/Dodgers (2nd Place Finisher in West)
Nationals
Braves
First Round Byes:
Mets have clinched a 1st round bye and the #1 NL seed. The winner of the West division will be the 2 seed and have the other 1st round bye.
IMPORTANT REMINDER:
ALL TRANSACTIONS LOCK AT MIDNIGHT ON 8/28.
If you intend to use a player in the playoffs, they must be in a 40 man spot on your SPREADSHEET ROSTER (not Fantrax) or there must be a post moving them into one of these spots by midnight on Sunday. If a player is on the IL after the deadline, they stay there even if they get healthy in real life. If a player gets called up in real life you can't use them unless they've already been called up to your 40 man roster by the deadline and so on. It's a frozen best 40 player roster for the playoffs.
If you use a player that is not part of your frozen 40 man roster, it will result in immediate disqualification from the playoffs. This is the one time in the season that I enforce the roster rigidly with no grace for minor mistakes. If you're in the playoffs, you should know your 40 man roster. Take a few minutes before Sunday and get everything just the way you want it for the playoffs.
Thanks!
