for
TB Rays send: Nick Castellanos $ 20,000,000 $ 20,000,000 $ 20,000,000 $ 20,000,000 $ 20,000,000 Blake Snell $ 12,500,000 $ 16,000,000 Akil Baddoo $ 600,000 $ 750,000 Arb 1 Arb 2 Arb 3 Zachery Pop $ 900,000 $ 900,000
Had an idea I'd be using my franchise tag a bit quicker than expected I'm sure but I still believe big time in Nicky Cast and adding Snell feels like the kind of juice my lineup needs. Between these two deals I'm feeling really good about how the squads looking for the stretch run.
Over to Bailey and great back and forth over a while for this one, thanks for your patience bud. (Math is hard lol)

Rays confirm.
Castellanos hasn’t been completely unstartable this year, but his dip in production makes his contract look more daunting. I hope I didn’t outthink myself here because a pseudo salary dump, during a pennant race, in which I also attach one of my better strike-throwers is…risky. Long term, I like the flexibility of having my franchise tag open again, and Castellanos’ contract off the books. For the return, I like Tellez and Tarnok, and adding another draft pick is nice. Andrus and Duvall will be going on waivers, but I’ll keep Smtih around to see how he fares in Houston. Adding him makes losing Pop a little more manageable. My main anxiety here is I hope losing Snell doesn’t burn me down the stretch as I try to run the table - it would be sad if having him would have been the difference maker in a playoff matchup. But hey, that’s the risk, and I feel that this deal as a whole is worth rolling the dice. Time will tell.
Always a pleasure talking trade with Matt, thank you and good luck.
