Andrew Vaughn (OF, CHW) — $600,000 $750,000 Arb1 Arb2 Arb3
Charlie Blackmon (OF, COL) — $10,500,000 $9,000,000
Chris Paddack (RHP, SDP) — $2,250,000 Arb2 Arb3
Keoni Cavaco (MI, MIN) — MiLB

to the Minnesota Twins for:

Joey Gallo (OF, NYY) — $10,275,000
Clayton Kershaw (LHP, LAD) — $11,000,000 $11,000,000

This is essentially swapping indeterminable outfield production (Vaughn) for definitive outfield production (Gallo) while providing me with a much-needed addition to my rotation (Kershaw). Always intended to move Vaughn in a deal with this sort of structure, and I'm glad Twins & I got it done.

The Twins confirm!

I felt like 5 years of Vaughn outweighed what Kershaw and Gallo would provide this year. I'm hoping that the combo of Vaughn and Blackmon can mitigate what I'm losing in Gallo this year. Kershaw was going to be a key piece in the rotation, but there is no guarantee on how many innings he's going to pitch and there were rumors he could retire in the off-season.
