I wasn't necessarily planning on dealing Groshans, but I was very excited at the possibility of adding Alek Thomas to the Jays organization. The Jays currently don't have an elite outfield prospect, meanwhile we have a very solid pipeline of infield prospects, so swapping Groshans for Thomas made a lot of sense. I am always looking to add lotto ticket pitchers to the farm and why not take a chance on a teenager in Justin Martinez who throws some serious heat, and hope he can figure out his control as he continues to develop.

Pleasure doing business with Michael. It took a bit to finalize this deal, but I really think it helps out both teams.

It’s no secret the Diamondbacks have a huge amount of talent in the outfield. I wanted to take that strength and identify infield talent that my team could use. Being able to pair Mashers of the ball in Groshans and Bohm, combined with some serious talent up the middle, has me feeling quite good about my offense.
