San Diego Padres Trade:
SP Chris Paddack - $2M Arb2 Arb3 FA RP Gregory Soto - $750K Pre-Arb OF Willie Calhoun - $1.5M Arb2 Arb3 FA
Chicago White Sox Trade:
SP Dylan Cease - $750K Pre-Arb
Continuing to make efforts to overhaul my rotation here. Chris Paddack is a personal favorite; however, his recent inconsistency has had me searching for other options. Calhoun too is a guy I love and he has the feel of a breakout candidate, yet I trust my lineup is deep enough to let him go. Now, dealing Gregory Soto pretty much exhausts all of the RP talent on my roster...but I'm rolling the dice that I can figure out a way to cover that need once I settle my starting pitching situation. Dylan Cease (hopefully) gives me a good boost there. He's had difficulty harnessing his stuff thus far in his career, but he was pretty good last year and should rack up Ks if nothing else.
Over to Jason and the White Sox to confirm.

If Paddack finds any level of consistency, this should be a win in my favor. Soto is more impactful than many of the relievers I'd be able to find on the open market, and Calhoun is a nice little depth piece for now and potential breakout candidate going forward.
I'll miss Cease's elite K/9 rate, but this was a necessary move. Thanks to Kevaghn for the quick talks.
