Nationals trade
Max Scherzer (50% retained) $13.68M
Cleveland Indians Trade
Nolan Jones (MiLB) Gabriel Arias (MiLB) Ethan Hankins (MiLB) Tyler Gilbert 2M (MiLB)
Much like the Nationals in real life, Scherzer's time with the franchise has come to an end. Wouldn't have been able to sneak into the playoffs without him, and he will surely be missed. Cleveland is getting stud in time to try and make a deep playoff run. That said, I couldn't turn down the chance to minimize my rebuild/retooling while also getting a pitcher in Gilbert to keep me afloat in the Wild Card game. Nolan Jones has long been a top 100 prospect, and even with a lower BA and high K rate, I suspect he'll be a building block in my lineup for years to come. Same goes for Arias and Hankins, who I trust the Indians organization to bring back from TJ and be ready to go early next year.
Extremely competitive offers came in (big thank you to the owners who made last minute discussions so easy and competitive), and frankly this was a real coin toss. But I feel like I have the pieces to try and stay alive in the playoffs while looking primed to be extremely competitive for years to come. Over to John to confirm (who I know is making roster cuts to make this work salary-wise as we speak).

Confirming this trade.
Big price to pay and had to dismantle my waiver all star team to acquire Scherzer.
This Scherzer guy can still sling a baseball and helps me with my PTSD over losing Bieber and Civale.
Nolan, Arias, and Hankins are prized talents from my prospect farm, but does not shut down my farm either.
Appreciate the easy discussions Lee.
