The Mariners and the Padres have agreed to the following trade:
Mariners send: JD Martinez, OF (BOS) - $9,675,000 in 21, Player option in 2 for same amount) Adam Wainwright, SP (STL) - $5,000,000 (FA in 22) Paul Sewald, RP (SEA) - $500,000 (FA in 22)
Padres send: Byron Buxton, OF (MIN) - $5,125,000 (ARB 4 in 22) Zach Davies, SP (ChC) - $8,630,000 (FA in 22) Matt Brash, P (SEA) - Prospect Drey Jameson, P (ARI) - Prospect
Mariners accept, obviously. I look at this deal this way. Davies for Waino, both contracts expire after this season. Waino is 109 years old, and i wouldnt bring him back. Davies has a chance to come back to my team next year and be a decent innings eater. Then i look at Martinez for Buxton and the prospects, and that will either haunt me or be a winning move, all depending on Buxton staying healthy. Thats a big ask, but He has been SOOOOO good when healthy. Sewald has been great, but with him becoming a FA at league minimum he was expendable.
Kevaghn is the best as always, and ill throw it off to him to confirm.
**EDIT** PS: Jared, when this is confirmed, please place Brash and Jameson in the minors, With the minors moves i made today (Calling up Hill, and releasing Walton) i have the room.

Padres confirm! Always happy to connect with Jeff when I can.
I knew I had to get Waino back somehow once he was put on the block. We'll see how he holds up the rest of the year at 109 years old, but he was my rock in the first half and I'll gladly pencil him back into the rotation. Sewald also gives me another arm to stay on track bullpen-wise; he's been brilliant so far. Clearly, J.D. Martinez is the real get though. Buxton has immense upside, but Martinez is a lineup anchor himself and brings with him the consistency my offense has been missing week-to-week.
