Cincinnati trades:
Christian Roa, P CIN - MiLB Contract
Canaan Smith-Njigba, OF PIT - MiLB Contract
Colorado trades:
Andrew Kittridge, RP TB - $700k in 21 then FA in 22
Donovan Solano, MI/CI SFG - $3.25M in 21 then FA in 22
This weekend/Monday has been a busy one in the Queen city, as we complete our third deal in the last four days. As previously stated, we were in desperate need of relief pitching that could pitch high leverage innings. Kittridge, while not guaranteed, has that ability and has been great when doing so. Bringing him in, along with Hudson and Marshall, gives us 22 SVH's so far this season compared to the 32 we have between 17 different relief pitchers not named Hansel Robles or Lucas Sims. This bullpen won't scare anybody but, its no longer a deficient part of this team either. Which is also why Solano is coming over as well. Kyle Farmer and Cesar Hernandez have combined for approximately a .220 average, .650 OPS, and 99 K's this season. Despite the 16 HR's and 51 RBI's, there is no way that I'm beating teams on HR numbers when Cesar Hernandez is tied on my team for most HR's....Seager comes back next week hopefully to pair with Solano which will give me plenty of time to wait for Moustakas to heal his heel properly.
I like Roa and Smith-Njigba but, the reality is that my roster is set up in a way where they are both well below other players. And since I don't see either as breakout All-Star candidates, I used them to upgrade my team now. I might regret saying that and I know I'll look back and be upset with this trade but, it's what I need now.
Jimmy Lambert and Bryan Garcia will be demoted to make room on the roster as well as cap space for the moves.
To Michael to confirm.
